Griekenland. Gepland was om om 12:25 take-off te gaan. Helaas bleek de beoogde KLM Boeing 737 niet van zins om hieraan medewerking te verlenen. Om een lang verhaal kort te maken; switchen naar een andere Boeing 737 (die eigenlijk van Transavia is) en bijna twee uur te laat op weg naar het zuiden.<\/p>\n<p>Hierdoor kwamen we uiteraard ook een stuk later aan in Athene dan gepland. Vanuit het 4A thuisfront was het hotel al ge\u00efnformeerd en die gaven aan de keuken open te houden voor onze groep. Nadat iedereen wat proviand voor maandag het gescoord werd de bekende bus opgezocht en kwam ook de chauffeur bij velen bekend voor. Zonder verdere issues arriveerden we best laat bij ons vertrouwde hotel. De incheck daar ging lekker soepel en de keuken was inderdaad nog open. Een behoorlijk deel van de groep maakte hier nog snel even gebruik van, terwijl de rest al het bedje opzocht.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section class='av_tab_section av_tab_section av-mod9hi5c-67f0cf773f7b0c0d8180b279285a1097'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div id='tab-id-2-tab' class='tab' role='tab' aria-selected=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\" data-fake-id='#tab-id-2' aria-controls='tab-id-2-content'  itemprop=\"headline\" >16 maart 2026<\/div><div id='tab-id-2-content' class='tab_content' role='tabpanel' aria-labelledby='tab-id-2-tab' aria-hidden=\"true\"><div class='tab_inner_content invers-color'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h3><strong>Lekker soepel allemaal<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>De spottersdag stond voor maandag 16 maart gepland. De registratie voor toegang zou vanaf 07.30 beginnen, dus iedereen nam \u2019s ochtends vroeg (06.00) een lekker ontbijtpakketje mee van het hotel. De chauffeur wist de weg, dus zette ons mooi op tijd af bij de hoofdpoort van Andravida.<\/p>\n<p>Daar sloot iedereen aan in de (relatief korte) rij wachtenden. In de aanloop naar het begin van de oefening hadden nog meer internationale deelnemers afgezegd om verschillende redenen. Dat de opkomt van spotters voor de spottersdag beperkter was dan andere jaren was dus geen verrassing. De toegang was goed georganiseerd met kleine groepjes die tegelijkertijd naar de registratietent werden geleid, \u201cgesorteerd\u201d op land. Daarna de bus in naar de plek aan de rolbaan.<\/p>\n<p>Het weer was wisselvallig: bewolkt, met af en toe wat motregen. Alsof Poseidon en Zeus nog niet helemaal eens waren over wie de dienst had die dag. De bewolking was in de ochtend wel behulpzaam, omdat de zon dan nog aan de andere kant van de baan staat. Terwijl heel veel mensen eerst bij de snuisterijen-tentjes ging kijken of er nog euro\u2019s uitgegeven konden worden (aan t-shirts, patches, jassen, stickers, etc.), had de rest al een plekje gekozen voor de dingen die zouden gaan komen.<\/p>\n<p>Het eerste toestel van de dag was een Griekse Mirage 2000 die landde. Iets meer dan een uurtje later kwam het eerste toestel voorbij getaxiet; een Griekse F-16. Van dit type zouden er nog veel volgen. Het \u2018gebrek\u2019 aan internationale deelnemers (Franse Mirage 2000D\u2019s, Sloveense PC-9\u2019s en een Albanese AS532) werd in de ogen van de deelnemers aan de spottersdag goedgemaakt te worden door het grote aantal Griekse fighters. Zo kwamen snel daarna ook de eerste Phantoms uit de shelter area en stegen er even daarna vier op! Ook de Griekse Mirage ontbraken niet (net als de Fransen overigens). Jammer dat de Rafales vanaf Araxos meededen aan de oefening, maar gelukkig kwam een formatie van vier stuks toch nog even voorbij.<\/p>\n<p>De pauze tussen de twee waves werd opgevuld met lunch (ter plaatse te verkrijgen) en een display van een F-4. Omdat het eerste toestel stuk bleek tijdens de take-off run moest een vervangend exemplaar worden gezocht. Daarmee konden ook Phantom nr 5 en 6 worden gefotografeerd!<\/p>\n<p>Daarna was het tijd voor de middagwave. Ook bij deze wave gingen weer vier Phantoms de lucht in! De beide Sloveense PC-9\u2019s lieten zich nu ook zien, maar helaas deed de Albanese chopper moeite om na take-off zo ver mogelijk van de spotters te blijven. Nadat alles zo\u2019n beetje weer geland was, was het einde van de spottersdag aangebroken.<\/p>\n<p>De bus bracht ons weer naar het hotel, waar de avond met een hapje en een drankje werd afgesloten.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section class='av_tab_section av_tab_section av-mod9i2to-5e7e9737c47d77013fe9a5ce5d11f7ae'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div id='tab-id-3-tab' class='tab' role='tab' aria-selected=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\" data-fake-id='#tab-id-3' aria-controls='tab-id-3-content'  itemprop=\"headline\" >17 maart 2026<\/div><div id='tab-id-3-content' class='tab_content' role='tabpanel' aria-labelledby='tab-id-3-tab' aria-hidden=\"true\"><div class='tab_inner_content invers-color'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h3><strong>Afscheid van Tzaki (een einde van een kort tijdperk)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Dinsdag 17 maart was alweer de dag van de terugreis. Na het ontbijt namen we afscheid van Hotel Tzaki, dat de afgelopen jaren als een vertrouwd toevluchtsoord had gediend \u2013 bijna als een vaste tempel langs onze route. Het hotel wordt gesloten voor een grondige (en ook wel beetje noodzakelijke) renovatie. Deze renovatie zal waarschijnlijk twee jaar gaan duren. Of we daarna weer gebruik maken van deze locatie? Time will tell!<\/p>\n<p>De bus bracht ons volgens een vlekkeloos schema naar de luchthaven van Athene. Daar werd afscheid genomen van de mensen die op eigen gelegenheid naar huis gingen en werden de koffertjes ingecheckt. Deze keer geen grillen van de goden: de vlucht naar Schiphol verliep geheel volgens plan. De algemene conclusie was duidelijk: ondanks het kleinere internationale deelnemersveld was het een geslaagde spottersdag, waarbij de Griekse luchtmacht meer dan genoeg spektakel bood om iedereen
