The Summer Air Show at IWM Duxford in June 2025 was a mix of expectations, surprises, and unfortunately, some disappointments. For many, it was their first visit to RAF Duxford since the Flying Legends shows previously held there.
The 4Aviation bus travelled on Friday, 20 June 2025, via various pick up locations in the Netherlands and Belgium to the port of Calais. After crossing the Channel, the journey continued, driving on the other side of the road. As always, we arrived at the entrance at a convenient time (Saturday 21 June) without many issues or delays.
On the ground, the Summer Air Show is similar to the Flying Legends events, with various stands, the aroma of fries and coffee, and the various re-enactment presentations. In the air, however, the event is quite different. In addition to historic aviation, there is also room for modern acts (RAF Typhoon, AAC Apache, and Wildcat). The number of historic aircraft, however, is somewhat disappointing. Nevertheless, everyone had a great time at the showground and the Imperial War Museum.
At the end of Saturday, it was time for everyone to return to their usual seats on the bus. This journey, like the outward journey, went without any significant problems. This allowed the last participants to be dropped off promptly at the same location where they had boarded earlier on Sunday morning (22 June).
