Bases & model and book shops – May 2026

In May 2026, we will organise a tour to Japan for the 3rd time, which will not only focus on visiting different air bases, but we will also visit several book and model shops specialising in aviation.  On top of that, we plan to visit the immense Shizuoka Hobby Show 2026.

Japan is of course a big producer of high-quality books and models, many you won’t come across in the rest of the world. Our experienced tour guide knows all the places near the bases and all the streets where these shops are located.

Itinerary

The itinerary that follows is to be considered as preliminary.

We will fly to Japan on Thursday 14 May 2026 and return to the Netherlands on Monday 25 May 2026.

The plan at this moment is as follows:

After departing on Thursday 14 May, we will arrive at Tokyo on Friday 15 May. We will pick-up our van and start the tour.

Saturday 16 May and Sunday 17 May are fully dedicated to visiting the Shizuoka Hobby Show.

For Monday 18 May we have scheduled around Shizuhama and Hamamatsu and visit the Hobby Post store

On Tuesday 19 May we have scheduled around Komaki, with a vsit to Finemolds, Aichi Museum of Flight, Alice Hobby Promodel store and the Joshin store.

The next day, Wednesday 20 May, we will visit Gifu Air Base, the Kakamigahara museum and the Komaki TamTam Shop.

Komatsu Air Base is scheduled for Thursday 21 May and Friday 22 May to get all of those special coloured F-15s.

Saturday 23 May is shopping time with, amongst other, Maebashi store, Hasegawa Hobby store, Keystone store and Hobby Shop Sunny store on the itinerary.

A repeat on Sunday 24 May, but with different shops: Yodabashi store, Leonardo stores, TamTam Akihabara store, Surugaya Model Hall store, Yellow Submarine store, Volks store and Shosen Book Tower store

On Monday 25 May is is time to go home and fly back to the Netherlands.
