Greece II (2022)

On Friday 13 May (!) and after a short night the bus took us to Araxos air base for this day’s spotters day. The check-in procedure went pretty smooth and the group arrived at the spot near the runway just in time for the first take-offs of the day which were four based F-16s for a non-Tiger Meet flight. The north-south runway of Araxos and the great weather in this time of year is a bit challenging as you are facing the sun in the morning. Despite that some nice pictures could be taken as were very close to the runway. As usual an endless amount of Tiger paraphernalia could be purchased at various stands and drinks and toilet facilities were available nearby. A large number of aircraft participated in the morning CAMAO wave while in the intervening time some display rehearsals took place.

After a short lunch break the traditional photoflight with Tiger marked aircraft was launched followed by another CAMAO. The cherry on the pie of a very successful day were two Phantom from nearby 338MDV at Andravida which arrived at the end of the day to participate in the static display during the small airshow on Sunday. The Greeks really understood how to make a great day even better. After an enjoyable day the group arrived back in the hotel to enjoy the evening in the nice center of Patras.
