Base visits Austria

Information

At the end of May we will travel with a minivan, via Germany, to Austria to visit two air bases there. The Austrian armed forces are going to say goodbye to the Alouette 3 helicopter and we will be there. The day before we will also take a look at Langelebarn airport to see the other types of helicopters up close.
It is quite a drive and we will stop at a few aviation locations along the way if the opportunities arise.

Itinerary

The itinerary that follows is to be considered as preliminary.

On Tuesday 21 May we will drive to Germany/Austria and return to the Netherlands on Saturday 25 May 2024.

The plan at this moment is as follows:

  • Tuesday 21 May 2024 – departure from Utrecht Central Station. At the end of the day, we want to be in Manching (Germany).
  • Wednesday 22 May 2024 – we will spot from outside the fence at Neuburg and possibly Manching, and at the end of the afternoon drive to the hotel towards Langenlebarn (Austria)
  • Thursday 23 May 2024 – visit to Langenlebarn air base, drive towards Aigen im Ennstal in the afternoon.
  • Friday 24 May 2024 – visit to Aigen im Enstall air base, in the afternoon drive towards Manching for an overnight stay
  • Saturday 25 May2024 – last bit of driving home

Tour cost

Price for this tour is € 749,- per person. This price includes:

  • Drive from The Netherlands to Austria
  • Drive from Austria to The Netherlands
  • Hotel accommodation (middle class hotels, twin share room basis, two beds and ensuite bathroom)
  • All transportation in Germany/Austria
  • € 9,- contribution to GGTO

The single-room supplement for this tour is € 195,-.

We can also pick up people along the way, such as the airports of Frankfurt and Munich (Vienna is not an option) or other places on the route, this is subject to consultation.

Not included:

  • individual travel insurance
  • entrance fees for museums or airshows
  • all meals
  • all personal expenditures
